Penfold, Mossop and their friends get up to all sorts in real life. These shenanigans and other aspects of real life inspire the stories. 

For example, Nana and Grandad's previous dog Charlie did really help the police catch a thief in their garden, one of our neighbour dogs is really a bulldog called Vinnie, we did meet a really nervous recue greyhound in Sutton Park, and we do have a very good friend Lisa, whose dog Teddy is quite famous around Wombourne.

Later in 2025 Hannah is launching her own online store - the Book Shop - on this website so you can purchase books from her directly. 

Yellow is their favourite colour. 

Did you know dogs can't see some colours because the way their eyes have been created is different to humans. 

Dogs can see blue, yellow and grey really well. Dogs have trouble seeing things that are very far away. They look a bit blurry, but they can't wear glasses like you and me so they have an amazing sense of smell which helps them find the things which they cannot see very well.  

If you let them, Penfold and Mossop would eat anything. Mossop especially is a food monster. However, not everything is good for dogs to eat - for example you should never give a dig grapes, raisins or chocolate. 

There are lots of lovely foods that dogs can eat and Penfold and Mossop do enjoy a piece of carrot or cucumber when Hannah is making a salad. They also really enjoy a snack of blueberries and raspberries. 

When Hannah makes a banana smoothie sometimes she freezes some in ice pop molds. Penfold and Mossop love these treats in summer when its really hot. 

Penfold and Mossop are still quite young, only a few years old. 

Penfold's birthday is in April and Mossop's birthday is in March. Penfold is older than Mossop by nearly a year. 

They enjoy celebrating their birthdays. They get lots of fuss, spend time with family and friends and run around a lot. They even get some special treats. They are always excited to get new toys for their birthday and have a good  nib nib on them to try and find where the squeaker is. 

Mossop loves cuddles so he puts his paw on you when he wants one. He likes doing this a lot. When he does this sometimes you can play one potato two potato with him.

Both Penfold and Mossop love running and chasing the ball (not as much as Uncle Sooty though). Penfold doesn't really like giving the ball back so once he's caught it he will just run around with it in his mouth. Mossop does give the ball back so you can throw it again. He lies down when he does this so his tummy often gets muddy.  

They also both love hunting for hidden treats in the living room to see who can get the most, the fastest.
